Should we bring the dogs?

I often get asked if dogs may be included in a photoshoot. The answer is always  YES and I highly encourage it! I know how much we all love our pups and they. are. family!

Now that Fall is approaching and temps will hopefully be out of the nineties soon, (it’s been a scorcher for sure!), you're starting to think about family portraits, Christmas cards and all the things. (Did I really just type Christmas?!?) Here are just three great reasons to include your pooches in family photos every year.

As stated above, your pet is part of the family.

  1.  Maybe, like my husband and I, your pups are your kids! No shame in that! (Proud dog mom here!)  Or maybe it’s just you and your furry friend or you have a houseful of kiddos and rescues!  No matter what your family looks like, your pet is a well loved member, and your portraits wouldn’t be complete without them.

02.

Not everyone is a dog person.

I know, I know, you're shaking your head in disbelief, but it's true. Not all photographers will be comfortable getting sloppy kisses, wet noses all up in our gear, nor will they appreciate being covered in fur and drool at the end of the evening. I, on the other hand, am used to it and come prepared with a towel, lint roller and treats to keep everyone happy and occupied!  ;-)))

You won’t regret it!!

Yes, your dog may have his own Insta following, but more than likely they’re just a bed hogging, food begging, tail wagging snuggle bug whose only purpose in life is to love and bring you joy. Take the time to make these memories with your pup. Whether she’s new to the family or he’s gray faced and closer to the Rainbow Bridge than not, or just hanging out, living their best life, take the time.

What are you waiting for?

So, when updated family photos are at the top of your to do list, make it a priority to include ALL members of your pack!
