Backyard to Studio: Spencer & Charlotte's Session
Vicki found me the way a lot of my favorite people do — through a neighbor. She'd seen the photos I took of her neighbor's German Shepherd and reached out for her own two babies: Spencer, a black and tan dachshund with a whole lot of personality, and Charlotte, a sweet little Chorkie.
We Started at Home
We kicked things off at Vicki's house in Enterprise, AL — backyard first, then inside. And it was good! We got plenty. Enough to fill a gallery, enough for wall prints, enough that if we'd stopped there, nobody would've been disappointed.
But I knew we could do better.
Enter Spencer the Dachshund - AKA, #bark boy
Here's the thing about dachshunds — they bark. A lot. It's basically in the job description. Spencer is no exception, and Vicki warned me he takes his time warming up to new people.
It took him about five minutes, lots of treats, no eye contact and ignoring from me and he settled down, for the most part. At least he knew I wasn't a threat, lol
Charlotte, meanwhile? Never needed warming up at all. That girl was an angel from minute one. A little sweetheart through and through.
The Studio Difference
After about an hour at the house, I made Vicki an offer: come spend an hour or so with me at my Daleville studio. I told her straight up — "You won't be sorry."
She wasn't.
Spencer came in confident, but the bossiness toned way down. He got curious instead. He did pretty much everything we asked of him — genuinely well-behaved, which if you know dachshunds, is not always the case. Charlotte kept right on being Charlotte — easy, sweet, no problem.
We got mom with both of them. We got Spencer solo, Charlotte solo, the two of them together different props and lots of variety, all of it good.
Where They Landed
Vicki didn't stop at one order. She came back for more — large prints for her dining room, her bedroom, her entryway, plus matted gift prints for family. That's exactly what I love to see. These aren't files sitting on a hard drive somewhere. They're on her walls. They're in someone's hands as a gift. That's the whole point.
Spencer and Charlotte are family, period, and now their portraits are decorating the walls in Vickie's beautiful home.
If your little diva (or your not-so-wild angel) is due for their own session, I'd love to chat. Reach out anytime — the studio's ready when you are.
